Marie was awarded the Ontario Bicentennial Medal on December 09,1984 for service to the community.
She was student council president at Welland High School. Later, as a worker or on the executive, Marie was invovled with several gruops - Catholic Woman's League, Welland Little Theatre, Arthritis Society, Holy Name PTA, Right-To-Life, Welland United Way, Mental Health Association, Welland Port Colborne Concert Association, Niagara Region Housing Program, etc .
Marie was recognized several times for her contributions to the community.
Muscular Dystrophy did not prevent her from serving the community!
