Loving mother of Mark (Liana), Michael (Jackie), and Paul (Kimberley). Proud grandmother of Katlin, Nyell and Sadie. Predeceased by her parents John and Lena Macoretta, brother Ormand and sister Elaine. Marie was a cherished aunt, cousin and friend. She was a woman of great faith who will be remembered by many for her volunteer work with the St. Kevin’s Catholic Women’s League, Right to Life, Mental Health Association, Arthritis Society, United Way, Holy Name Parent-Teacher Association, and Community Concert Association. She held executive positions with many of these organizations and was awarded an Ontario Bicentennial Medal in 1984 for service to the community. Marie was a devoted wife and mother who also worked briefly as an elementary school teacher and as a volunteer coordinator at Tanguay Place. She wrote a column for the Welland Tribune for several years. She loved to sing, go to concerts, and performed with the Port Colborne Operatic Society and Welland Little Theatre. Marie enjoyed reading, movies, travelling, cryptic crosswords, and spending time with family and friends. Thank you to the staff at Northland Pointe for their care and compassion. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Parish Community of St. Kevin. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at a future date.
