Passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 at the age of 83. Beloved wife for 53 years of the late Ronald Veltri (2014). Loving mother of Sandra Comaniuk (David), Teresa Mercier (Denis), Ron “Buck” Veltri (Colleen) and Paul Veltri (Vicki). Cherished Grandmother of Ronna and Olivia Comaniuk, Meagan King (Jason), Miranda Brown (Kyle), Tara Veltri, Cody Veltri (Sarah), Paul Jr., Logan and Fallon Veltri. Nani will be forever remembered by her 4 great- granddaughters, Paisley and Tessa King and Hallie and Mya Brown. Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Ballantyne. Ruby was the last surviving sibling of 7 children. Predeceased by her brothers William, Edwin, Robert and Clarence and her two sisters Evelyn and Margaret. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Helen Pupo (late Angelo), Yoli Pellegrino (late Frank) and Carol Guite (late Dwight) and predeceased by her sister-in-law Irene Sumbler (Les) and brothers-in-law Patrick Veltri (Hattie) and Orlie Veltri (Shirley) as well as her in-laws Joseph and Vincenza Veltri. Ruby is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was always a hard worker from her early days on the farm as a child, to raising her family and working at Nick’s/Highlander Cleaners as a Presser. She also enjoyed cooking, crafting and gardening. She was the rock of her family and always had a way of bringing them together, creating a special bond with each one of her grandchildren. Her door was always open and her home always welcoming. We will miss her beautiful smile, sense of humor, caring nature and strong will. This is not “goodbye” forever, it is “bye for now”.
Although she lived with COPD for many years, she faced the battle with strength and fought until the very end.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no arrangements have been made at this time. A private family gathering will be held later to celebrate the life of Ruby.
